A new year means that Apple has a whole range of devices with which to make us spend our money, and here we are going to list them. As every year, variety is the taste, and the Cupertino brand has virtual reality headsets, new Macs and of course the new generation of iPhones on the horizon. While we wait for the official announcements, here is the list of the most anticipated.
Table of Contents
15-inch MacBook Air
Everyone was pretty impressed with the 2022 MacBook Air redesign, so to say we’re looking forward to a potential 15 model isn’t an exaggeration. At this point in the rumor mill, this MacBook would be the largest to date, with speculated figures indicating exactly 15.2-inch size. No radical design changes are expected from the current model. Very thin edges, low profile, and flat corners are traditional on MacBook Airs, so expect them on the next. There are rumors that it will carry a 1080p camera, MagSafe charging and improved speakers.
A redesigned iPhone SE
The current iPhone SE 3 has fairly wide bezels, a ‘Home’ button and an LCD screen, but for its fourth generation rumors suggest a change of course. Very thin edges, no ‘Home’ button and an OLED screen could bring it closer to the experience of higher-end models. The leaks indicate that the iPhone SE 4 would resemble the iPhone XR, with a 6.1-inch screen and rounded corners. It could also still have the notch, but without facial recognition to reduce costs, and thus be the affordable phone you need.
HomePod 2
It’s been over two years since the debut of the HomePod, Apple’s smart speakers, so it may be time for an update. There’s not much to say about the design, but rumors of a device that looks like a mix of an iPad and a conventional speaker are floating around. A HomePod with a screen would be a welcome change, along with improvements to HomeKit, plus better audio hardware.
A bigger iPad Pro
How does a 16-inch iPad Pro sound? Well, very well, since the largest iPad right now reaches 12.9. Those 16 inches are the size of the largest laptop that the American company currently has, so the iPad Pro would match it. However, some analysts mark 14 inches as the size in which it would come out, while others hesitate between the two, they do not agree. Apart from the size change, the rest of the news doesn’t say much among them are a change to OLED screen or the inclusion of the M2 or M3 chip. What is clear is that the target audience for this product includes professionals such as graphic designers, who need a bigger screen, the better.
M2 Mac Mini
The Mac Mini is Apple’s small desktop computer, and design changes are expected for the next one, such as a smaller chassis, the addition of a USB-C and Ethernet port, more color options, the removal of its circular base and even the replacement of its aluminum top. Quite a bit of change by the looks of it. Also, the future Mac Mini will probably have an M2 processor, but it’s going to be an M2 Pro. We’ll see which one prevails in the end.
Virtual Reality Headset
Apple’s virtual reality device is yet to come, so the rumors are at their peak. People have been waiting for the release for a long time, and it finally seems that 2023 is the year that will see the light of day.As it will be your first device of this type, you cannot speculate much, unlike with other products where you can intuit the changes. What does seem clear is that it will cost an arm and a leg, we are talking about Apple, after all. Because it could combine virtual and augmented reality, it’s expected to carry plenty of cameras, with some reports describing it as a pair of ski goggles with a mix of different materials.
iMac Pro with the Apple Silicon chip
Apple has plans for multiple iMacs in 2023, but the iMac Pro is getting the most attention, mostly because of the M3 processor it will carry. It’s the next generation step up from the M2 Pro and M2 Max that comes with the MacBook Pro. Right now, the iMac Pro news is a bit confusing. Some say it will be the revival of the 27-inch iMac Pro that came out in 2017 and was discontinued in 2022, while others believe it will be an upgraded version of the 24-inch iMac that came out last year.
iPhone 15
The year is not complete without a new iPhone, and 2023 is not going to be less. Apple replaced the Mini model with the larger Plus, and next year it looks like one of the four (the Pro Max has the ballots) would give way to an Ultra model. The iPhone 15 could be the first to renew the Lightning charging port for USB-C, as mandated by the European Union, and the dynamic island, which has reached the public so well, has the potential to reach the entire iPhone line 15. A new periscope camera is also expected to increase zoom capabilities (from 3x to 10x).
